Curriculum Vitae

Hola!! Me iamo Denis Barkats. Ich can speak English, Deutsch, and of course Francais, ma langue natale. I went to high-school in  Grasse, in the South-Eastern coast of  France.  Grasse is famous worlwide for its perfumes.
After my French high-school diploma, I came to the US, and received  a Bachelor degree in  Physics at  Stanford University, in California. I just (June 2003)  finished a Ph.D in Astrophysics at  Princeton University, in "lovely New Joisey, the garden state".
I have started a Post-Doc at Caltech working on the BICEP experiment.
My thesis consisted  in the experimental  observation of the Cosmic Microwave Background Radiation  (or CMBR), the relic radiation from the early hot stage of the Universe. The photons we  observe come directly to us from a time when the Universe was only ~300 000 years old. With a team of a douzain researchers, we built state of the art  microwave detectors  which allow us to observe the fluctuations on the sky of the  polarization polarization of this background radiation. At awavelegth of 3 mm wavelength, we borrow many of our observationnal techniques to radio-astronomy. To learn more about our experiemnt, follow  this link: CAPMAP, or the ones below, describing other experiments.

Here's my  CV  (pdf version) ( as of April 2003)
